This position is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment.

About this Position

The Validation Test Technician executes the actual product testing per a test plan and OEM Specification. The right candidate will perform testing in both Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Environmental areas. The Validation Test Technician is responsible for an accurate test set-up, data collection, and data reporting.

Responsibilities and Duties

The technician will be testing products from multiple product lines before they go to market. Responsibilities include:

  • Validation test operation/execution in both Electromagnetic Compatibility and Environmental Lab
  • Full life cycle product test ownership
  • Ensuring accurate test reporting
  • Communication to EMC Test Engineering for approval/notification
  • Direct interaction with product engineers to ensure compliance
  • Maintaining open communication with Validation Engineering to ensure performance of the product
  • Maintaining a clean/safe work environment/area.
  • Comfortable working in multi shift environment and the information sharing required to ensure accurate and timely completion between different people working on the same projects.
  • Process Oriented
  • Utilize prior knowledgebase and sound logic to come to easily defendable conclusions/solutions, and independently drive the project to completion.
  • Good Communicator
  • Flexibility to meet customer requirements may require adjustment to hours / shift schedule

Need to Haves (Basic Qualifications)

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automotive Technology or related technical discipline
  • Proficient computer skills, with focus on Excel and Word
  • Well organized with ability to function in a multi-task environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate in a courteous and effective manner
  • Ability to plan and organize giving attention to detail and follow through
  • Self-starter and able to work independently and reliable daily schedule
  • Ability to function within a diverse group of team members

Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automotive Technology or related technical discipline
  • iNarte Technician Certification
  • Familiarity with test equipment: i.e. DMM (Digital Multimeter), ARB (Arbitrary Waveform Generator), Power Supply, oscilloscopes, generators, temperature cycling, thermal shock, humidity, salt fog / spray, and etc.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong professional and technical competence. They should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be responsible and capable of self-direction, have strong leadership skills driving self and organization to improve performance, be a team player, and display a high level of maturity. They should willingly accept challenges, be customer focused, possess excellent technical knowledge and skills, and be highly motivated.
  • Proven ability to identify and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Experience in an EMC Test, Electrical, and / or Environmental Test Laboratory environment
