Job Summary

Work closely with cross-functional teams (manufacturing engineer, design engineering, other stakeholder representatives) to design and monitor a manufacturing process that optimizes quality requirements, yields, reliability, and overall ease of manufacture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities of this position include process and equipment verification, design for ease of manufacture, development of tooling and fixtures, and the specification of assembly equipment.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Provide input into the design of new products to improve their reliability and ease of manufacture.
  • Promotes process improvement and standardization across manufacturing activities.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and material issues
  • Evaluate internal company capability and initiate automated process where feasible.
  • Initiate and document Standard Operating Procedures and Process Specific Operating Procedures and provide training to Technicians or Supervisors
  • Work with internal and external resources to resolve manufacturing issues and implement solutions
  • Be involved in the evaluation and choice of machinery and support equipment purchase decisions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
  • Conduct complex analysis to determine reasons for failure of materials, parts or processes.
  • Assists in tool designs and layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering, or Minimum of (10-15) years experience in (metals manufacturing)

  • Requires five (5) years related Aerospace processes such as sheet metal forming, fusion welding. Knowledge of tig welding is preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications including MS Project. Familiarity with computer-aided design a plus.
  • Experience documenting procedures including Process Development and Validation.
  • Equipment design and handling experience.
  • Technical plan and report writing.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with other departments.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate, prepare, and communicate plans and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex problems
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team environment and in driving solutions

Experience in bellows and/or flexible joint fabrication preferred.
