The RAND Corporation seeks a Security Specialistwho will be responsible for implementing RAND security policies and procedures related to information, personnel, physical security, and safety.This position will report to the Manager, Industrial Security & Regulatory Compliance, and assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO).
Duties
Perform classified document control activities, to include:
- Respond to JIRA tickets for document reviews.
- Assist in classified document reviews to ensure compliance with federal classification requirements.
- Print or receive classified documents and record into accountability.
- Barcode classified documents and entered applicable data into SIMS.
- Audit, track, transmit and destroy classified documents.
- Assist in the coordination of classified meetings.
- Update access request spreadsheet
- Send outgoing and receive incoming clearances via DISS and fax; processthese in SIMS.
- Perform other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of 32 CFR, Part 117 National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) Rule, Security Executive Agency Directives (SEADs) and Industrial Security Letters (ISLs)
- Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS)
- Experience with National Background Investigation Services (NBIS)
- Experience with Security Executive Agency Directives (SEADs)
- Experience with Industrial Security Letters (ISLs)
Experience
- At leastone year of relevant experience required.
- At leastthree years of relevant experience preferred.
Education
- High School degree or GED Equivalency required.
- AS/AA degree in security related field preferred
Security Clearance
- Must possess at least a Secret U.S. government security clearance, or if U.S. government security clearance is no longer active, must have possessed at least a Secret U.S. government security clearance within the past 24 months.
- Possession of Top-Secret U.S. government security clearance is preferred.
- Ability to maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required for this position.

- This position can allow for a hybrid onsite/remote work arrangement of working remotely up to two days per week.
Salary Range
$45,900 - $66,300
