Donaldson is seeking a Sr Scientist - Bioprocess Development to join our downstream bioprocessing team at Purilogics. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, proactive problem solver to lead a diverse group of scientists and engineers in developing biologic purification processes using innovative membrane chromatography technologies. This position is also responsible for generating protocols and case studies to support various functions across the company.
This role is based on site in Greenville, SC.
Role Responsibilities:
Lead bioprocess development projects with comprehensive documentation and effective communication practices, ensuring timely completion
Proactively generate and execute study plans to address technical and development concerns and challenges through innovative and meticulous characterization and troubleshooting efforts
Develop robust analytical methods for bioprocess and biomolecule characterization and provide training to other team members
Establish case studies to demonstrate the applications of our products in biologics purification
Proactively explore new technologies and development methods to increase team's capacity and capability
Generate data for marketing campaigns and presentations that promote our products
Formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new processes and products
Present at relevant conferences and publish white papers to elevate the company's profile as an expert in biologics purification
Provide support for manufacturing and quality control investigations and development as needed
Proactively generate knowledge from literature or data produced internally and share with the team
Interface with customers to offer insights on using our products and provide technical support in response to customer inquiries as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline
6+ years of experience in research or lab-based roles; 3+ years in biopurification or chromatography
Strong understanding of bioprocessing fundamentals, with the ability to lead bioprocess development projectsusing bioanalytical methods
Knowledge of chromatography to drive application development
Ability to problem-solve and demonstrate expertise in conducting data-driven root cause analysis
Strong communication skills and willingness to give presentations internally and externally
Demonstrated proficiency in standard laboratory safety protocols, with experience in safely handling biologics and chemicals
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline; with 2+ years of experience in biopurification or chromatography
Strong understanding of general physical and chemical features of biologics, such as nucleic acids, antibodies, proteins, etc.
Demonstrated ability to conduct novel experiments independently and judiciously
Highly skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent laboratory activities and projects while maintaining organization and accountability to deadlines
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and effective in a fast-paced, team-based laboratory environment
Comfortable adapting to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
