Description

Must have:

  • Knowledge of OPNAV 4790.2 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions, Manufacturer Manuals, and company instructions.
  • Good working knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance.
  • Ability to tactfully and effectively communicate with test teams, CMOs, and other personnel.
  • Operational skills with computers, computer peripherals, applicable software, and other office communication devices.
  • Ability to read, speak, write legibly, and understand the English language.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Attend aircraft modification/instrumentation planning meetings.
  • Advise test teams and CMOs on maintenance-related matters.
  • Maintain awareness of non-standard work being performed on aircraft and associated inspection requirements.
  • Coordinate with test teams and CMOs for scheduling non-standard maintenance actions, inspections, and modifications.
  • Coordinate with test teams and CMOs for required maintenance support during aircraft modification work.
  • Identify opportunities for on-aircraft maintenance activity during aircraft modification, instrumentation, or other project work. Seek opportunities to perform needed maintenance actions (scheduled maintenance, inspections, reducing up/down gripes, etc.) during aircraft modification periods to minimize post-mod maintenance work needed to return the aircraft to flight.
  • Plan and coordinate to posture the maintenance team for the most efficient transitioning of aircraft from the project and non-standard maintenance activity to aircraft being ready to execute test activity.
  • Attend test team meetings and maintain cognizance of aircraft mod schedules.
  • Provide input during aircraft modification planning. Promote consideration of modification designs that do not permanently alter aircraft components. Assess the effects of proposed modifications on efficient maintenance actions and suggest alternatives to enhance post-mod supportability.
  • Make suggestions on areas for process improvement to the Continuous Process Improvement Coordinator and participate in process improvement efforts.
  • Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Bachelor's Degree +(4) four years related experience OR education, experience equivalent
  • Experience in maintaining Test Squadron aircraft preferred
  • Must exhibit superior knowledge of OPNAVINST 4790.2 series, manufacturers' manuals, and company instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Physical Effort: Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, balancing, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 30 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Work Environment: The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
