Role Summary/Purpose

Under general supervision, weld components and sub-assemblies together with brazing and variety of arc and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as machine parts and, plant equipment. This role is Non-Exempt classified for FLSA purposes.

Hiring Range: $30.00 - $38.00

Essential Responsibilities

* Performs related tasks such as cleaning, grinding, and prepping for welding operations

* Must have good manual dexterity and attention to detail, have proficient technical welding

knowledgeable about the materials being joined, and comply with best practices in the field.

* Knowledgeable in welding processes e.g. MiG, TiG, mechanized, etc.

* Must pass weld qualification

* Performs TIG welding on aluminum per D-17.1 (Thin walled Aluminum a plus)

* Certified in one or more of the above processes

* Perform GTAW Class A welds on shell structures, propellant management devices (PMDs) and tubes via manual, semi-automatic and automatic processes as required

*Assemble tooling and verify suitability for weld.

*Collaborate with the Weld Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, and the weld team to ensure that the proper weld procedure, type of material and all other details are accurately assessed for each welding project

*Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations

*Make a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively

* Welds parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes

* Welds to aerospace requirements and basic industry standards

* Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus 3 -5 years (of related experience

and/or training in aerospace manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* One year welding certificate from college or technical school preferred

  • Applicants must be able to pass welding test
