Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an Electric Vehicle Drivability Development Senior Engineer at our Technical Center in Chino, California.
Responsibilities:
Lead the testing and development for the drivability of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis battery electric vehicle powertrains.
Conduct vehicle-level performance tuning.
Develop and implement performance calibration strategies to improve drivability attributes.
Collaborate with control software engineers to refine and optimize control strategies.
Oversee the design and execution of performance testing for EVs. Analyze test data and propose countermeasures to enhance vehicle drivability characteristics.
Plan and conduct vehicle test events such as proving ground tests, seasonal tests, chamber/dyno tests and towing tests, including preparation and reporting.
Lead extreme weather testing (hot/cold) with cross-functional teams.
Participate in vehicle evaluations & ride-and-drive activities - provide subjective feedback regarding vehicle performance and identify drivability issues.
Review customer feedback through JD Power IQS, Consumer Reports, and Customer Clinics to understand areas for improvement in vehicle development.
Benchmark competitor vehicles for BEV technology & trends.
Develop vehicle performance simulations and set development targets for future xEV projects for N.A. market.
Ensure that all drivability performance development activities adhere to internal quality standards.
Write clear and concise reports to document drivability issues, countermeasure effectiveness, and competitor vehicle evaluations
Travel up to 25%, up to 2 weeks in duration at a time, domestically and internationally to support product development and testing

Compensation:
$90,000 - $125,000
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study
7+ years of engineering experience
5+ years of relevant engineering experience in the automotive industry
3+ years of xEV performance development, along with strong calibration & test skills.
Experience in VCU or HCU calibration/logic development, expertise in EV powertrain systems, and knowledge of performance testing and validation processes required.
Strong understanding of EV powertrain systems, battery technology, and vehicle dynamics.
Background in prototype vehicle on-road testing and performance measurement is desirable.
Excellent computer skills and experience in measurement and calibration with ETAS/Vector tools - INCA/MDA/Canoe.
Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink simulation and logic development tools desirable.
Proficiency in planning, executing, and monitoring projects.
Excellent written communication and presentation skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Able to work in a culturally diverse team environment and in harsh climate conditions (Winter -40F, Summer +120F, altitude up to 14,000 ft)
Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
