Job Description

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Commercial Vehicles Connectivity and Telematics Engineer for our Commercial Vehicle Development team in Southern California:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop connected vehicle product features plan for Hyundai Commercial Vehicles in the North American Market.
  • Identify and develop connectivity features for Zero emission commercial vehicles, considering charging/refueling infrastructure and increasing driving automation.
  • Identify and develop innovative, unique connectivity features considering tractor and trailer combination, to improve cargo management and protection.
  • Develop laboratory and real-world test procedures to test connectivity functionalities at various stages of vehicle development, from early prototypes to pre-production.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to connectivity and telematics for commercial vehicles.
  • Contribute to the development of connectivity strategies and roadmaps, aligning them with Hyundai's overall business objectives and worldwide R&D centers.
  • Document all development activities, including specifications, test plans, and user guides, ensuring clear and concise communication of technical information.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing connectivity solutions for commercial vehicles, preferably in the heavy-duty trucking industry.
  • Strong knowledge of telematics, vehicle networks, wireless communication protocols (such as 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth BLE), and IoT technologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; MS Internet Explorer
  • Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic protocols (such as J1939, OBD-II) and automotive communication standards (such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and Canalyzer, CANoe, Autosar.
  • Ability to travel domestically (15%) & internationally (5%)

Compensation

  • $61,400-$106,268

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3 or more years' experience in test/validation of connectivity, software development
  • Valid light duty Driver's License
    • commercial driver's license preferred (CDL)
