Nordco is the oldest manufacturer of railroad track maintenance equipment in North America. Nordco design, manufactures, and markets equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of railroad tracks. Nordco first began to manufacture track Maintenance equipment in 1926 as a division of Nordberg Manufacturing Company using the Nordberg trade name. In 1970, Nordberg merged with Rex Chainbelt to form Rexnord. In 1987, Oak Industries purchased the Railway Equipment division of Rexnord, renaming it Nordco.

In October of 1996, management purchased Nordco from Oak Industries, converting Nordco from a public company to a privately owned company.

Since its inception, Nordco has expanded its product line to serve the increasing need for mechanization of railroad track repair and maintenance. Nordco's first product was a Track Shifter to allow the movement of track during mining operations. Nordco extend its product lines with the 1999 acquisition of Pyke Manufacturing Ltd. of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The Company also acquired the Little Ben Brushcutter from Emery Manufacturing and Equipment, Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1999. The Nordco product line now includes equipment to assist in the process of rail replacement, tie replacement, ballast surfacing, and right-of-way clearing. In addition, the Company supplies replacement parts and offers equipment-rebuild services to the railroad.
